Vacation Bible School
An
Event for all ages
As a vital component of the
Christian education program, Vacation Bible School at First Presbyterian
Church has something for everyone. Traditionally held each year for five
nights (Sunday through Thursday) in early June, each evening begins with
a meal, followed by activities for both children and adults. A nursery
is available for children age 3 and under.
The children’s sessions, for ages 4 through
those finishing 6th grade, generally center around an adventure theme.
After dinner, teachers accompany the children
to the educational building, whose rooms are decorated to reflect the
week’s theme.
Here youngsters experience arts and crafts, music, games, and knowledge
workshops aimed at exploring the wonders of the Bible and establishing
and strengthening faith in Jesus Christ. Young people in grades 8-12 are
encouraged to offer their help with the younger children’s activities.
For the adults, VBS sessions are led by a guest teacher, usually a
visiting minister or seminary professor. Each evening’s program includes
hymn singing and large group Bible study.
Following dinner on the fifth night of VBS, children and adults gather
together in the sanctuary for a celebration of the week’s activities. In
this closing session, the children present songs and skits they’ve
learned, and the whole congregation joins in hymns and joyful worship.
Vacation Bible School at First Presbyterian Church is an event for all
ages. Bring the whole family and join us for this exciting week!
