Fellowship
Recreation
Fellowship through recreation is an important part
of the First Presbyterian lifestyle. Whether you enjoy attending
Mississippi State athletic and cultural events, exercising at a local
health center, or attending community theater productions, chances are
you’ll find other FPC members there as well. Here are just a few of the
recreational opportunities FPC offers.
First Presbyterian routinely sponsors a team in the
local Church Bowling League, where the competition is fun and friendly.
League nights vary from season to season. Bulldog Lanes, a top-notch
facility on Highway 12 hosts this league. Please contact Jamie Jones
(435-7788) for details.
Summertime means softball in the Mens Church League
hosted by Starkville Parks & Recreation. FPC sponsors a team in the
slow-pitch division, with games played once or twice weekly during the
season. The team is open to all members 18 and older. Contact Jamie
Jones (435-7788) for information.
Low-impact stretching and exercise are the main
ingredients for Adult Exercise, a ministry offered through FPC for senior
adults. The class meets Monday and Wednesday in the fellowship hall at the church
from 8:30 to 9:30 AM.
Please contact Martha Wells (323-3095) for information on this program.
The beautiful setting of Robinson Lake just off Old
West Point Road is home to the annual children’s fishing rodeo. Each
summer young anglers are partnered with some of FPC’s “old pros” for a
day of fun at the lake. Prizes are awarded in several categories and
everyone is invited. Contact Cameron Beaty (323-1994) for dates and
times.
