Join us for a six-week study of Paul’s first letter to the Thessalonians

Between the Times: Join us for a six-week study of Paul’s first letter to the Thessalonians. Joey will be teaching on this epistle, which of all Paul’s letters is likely the first that he wrote. We’ll be focusing on this letter and its themes, but also talking more broadly about who Paul–the author of so many of our New Testament letters–is, and even more broadly about how we can better read Scripture. No previous knowledge of Scripture will be assumed, and everyone should learn something! We’ll be meeting almost every other Sunday–the 2nd and 4th Sundays of May and June and the 1st and 3rd Sundays in July. E-mail Joey at jsherrard@fpcstarkville.org or call the church office if you’re interested. If requested far enough in advance, child care can be made available.

The Dangerous Act of Worship

The Dangerous Act of Worship: The pastor’s book group is taking on a new title, and you are invited! This summer we will be meeting for ten weeks to look at Presbyterian pastor Mark Labberton’s newbook, The Dangerous Act of Worship. Here’s a blurb from the back: “Even when we gather corporately, we often close our eyes to those around us, focusing on God but ignoring our neighbor. But true biblical worship does not merely point us upward–it should turn us outward as well.” Intrigued? We’ll be meeting at the church on Thursdays at 11:30 starting May 22. E-mail Joey or call the church office beforeMay 15 if you are interested and if you need a book.

You may pick up your child in the classroom after worship. Children’s church is held during the 11:00 a.m. service. A nursery is provided for both the 8:30 a.m. service and the 11:00 a.m.service. Both services will be shown on the big screen in the fellowship hall. Hopefully, this will benefit those parents of young children who are not quite ready to sit through our entire worship service.
