Maybe it’s our Scottish heritage and we are just
predisposed to avoid waste or perhaps we think being a conservative
means more than just politics. The fact is we are far behind the rest of
the country on recycling . One of our local missions is to encourage
recycling in our community.
The Starkville Recycling Center is located on
211 C.C. Clark Road. Recycling drives are scheduled once a month and
church volunteers assist with unloading and sorting recyclables.
So what can you do? It all begins with you and me.
Please save and bring these items to the site:
-
Plastic #1-7: milk jugs,
water bottles, soda bottles, containers that held ice cream,
margarine or yogurt, and microwave trays. Rinse well. Remove
bottle caps and bring for recycling.
-
Aluminum and steel cans: metal jar lids also. Rinse well. Labels do not have to be
removed. Money from the aluminum cans will be donated to the
Starkville area Habitat for Humanity chapter.
-
Newspapers and brown paper bags.
Make sure they are clean and dry.
-
Magazines, telephone books and
catalogs. Include other glossy paper with the magazines.
-
Mixed paper: office paper
and junk mail.
-
Cardboard: flatten
corrugated cardboard, cereal boxes, shoe boxes and tubes from
paper towels and toilet paper.
-
Inkjet Cartridges: A box for
collecting inkjet cartridges is in the Fellowship Hall.
